W/WW DAM SLUICE GATE REPAIR
Marine Inspection / Marine Construction

Coastal Engineering’s ADCI-certified commercial divers performed underwater repairs to the damaged components of an upper-level sluice gate. Using commercial surface-supply air and one of our 25’ dive boats along with underwater ultrathermic cutting equipment and high-pressure water jet, we replaced the gate’s operating components including the stainless-steel stem.

Our PE divers first assisted resident engineers with troubleshooting the alignment issues. In reviewing previous drawings and performing an underwater inspection it was found that during the original construction a bolt had been dropped into the gate track, which prevented it from working properly. More recently, the stem was bent due to excessive force from prior operation, and the client had determined the stem required replacement. Coastal’s dive team was able to perform the repairs in less time than expected and well under budget.
