Coastal Engineering was initially contracted to perform a diving inspection of the underwater portions of the piles at Lake Mohawk Bridge. Recent inspections had revealed a need for priority repairs to eight H-piles. Using Commercial Surface Supplied Air, our engineer divers provided data needed for Lake Mohawk’s resident engineers, EIC Group LLC, to further develop repair plans. It was determined that cross bracing around the substructure would need to be removed to allow installation of steel splice plates to repair the piles.

Our commercial divers performed the repair work, starting with cutting and removing the steel cross bracing with above and below water cutting methods. Once the cross bracing was removed we installed (24) 4’L splice plates via use of above and underwater welding.
