Coastal first performed an underwater inspection of the Crystal Spring Lake low-level sluice gate. The purpose of the inspection was to determine the cause of leaking around the sluice gate. During the inspection, timber debris and dead fish were found stuck in the sluice gate track, inhibiting the gate’s ability to fully close. While a diver was in the water, our team operated the sluice gate to remove debris allowing the gate to close entirely. Once the gate was closed and seated along the bottom seal, leaking along the top gate seal was detected. This leak was due to the gate being operated/pressurized wile debris was lodged in its track, which had caused the gate wedges to become misaligned. The diver then adjusted all wedges and gate stops to allow for an adequate seal.
