WELCOME TO COASTAL ENGINEERING
Professional. Innovative. Reliable.
ABOUT COASTAL ENGINEERING
Coastal Engineering’s ADCI-certified commercial underwater inspection and dive teams - led by Engineer Divers and PE Divers - are professional, experienced, and highly familiar with virtually all marine-related structures:
bridges & culverts | dams & reservoirs | clearwells & water tanks | tunnels & locks | power plants
bulkheads | seawalls, piers, & wharfs | W/WW facilities | pipelines | submarine cables | shipping industry
We perform hands-on diver inspections, penetration dives, and confined space inspections; in areas where diver access is limited, we perform rover, crawler, and sonar/scanning inspections. We perform condition surveys, scour evaluation, detailed measurements, material testing, fathometric/hydrographic surveys, quality testing, and NDT. Our commercial divers are cross-trained to operate, translate, and transcribe data obtained from all in-house inspection and scanning equipment into report formats adhering to applicable agency standards. Additionally, we offer independent above and below-water QA/QC and construction inspection services.
Coastal Engineering's commercial dive teams also perform underwater repairs and construction services:
crack injection | spall repairs | scour countermeasures | anodes & cathodic protection | repointing | pile jacketing substructure repairs | bulkhead repairs | dredging services | gate/trash rack/stop log repairs & installation
underwater concrete & welding | underwater cutting & broco | sluice gates & water screens
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS / COMMERCIAL DIVERS
Coastal Engineering's team of Professional Engineers and Commercial Divers possess the training, knowledge and equipment to review and evaluate the structural integrity of underwater components. Our divers are ADCI certified and qualified to work in confined spaces and perform underwater penetration in accordance with OSHA regulations. We use cutting edge digital video and photography equipment to document defects during our underwater inspections.
QA/QC AND
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT INSPECTION
Our QA/QC/CMI Division provides services for a variety of federal and local projects. We offer on-site and periodic USACE CQM-certified structural engineers, QA/QC Engineers, and underwater QC dive teams to monitor work in progress. Our services include plan review, creation of APPs and submittals, surveillance dives, construction monitoring & documentation, verification of as-built conditions, and quality testing.
QA/QC Underwater Surveillance Services
Our QA/QC/CMI Division provides underwater surveillance services for projects throughout the country. We offer PE-led, ADCI/OSHA-compliant dive teams to monitor and document underwater construction and repairs. Our inspection divers hold an array of certifications including USACE CQM, NHI/FHWA Inspection certifications, ASDSO Dam Safety certification, ASCE Waterfront Inspection & Assessment, OSHA 10/30/40/GHS, and all health and safety-related certifications.
UNDERWATER REPAIRS
Coastal Engineering's team of Professional Engineers and Commercial Divers perform underwater repairs to bridges, culverts, dams, W/WW facilities, and a variety of other marine and water-related locations. With our firsthand knowledge of underwater structures, our PE's can work with all stakeholders to provide repair recommendations and design cost-efficient repairs.
UNDERWATER BRIDGE INSPECTION
Coastal Engineering's in-house dive teams are led by P.E. divers with extensive experience in underwater bridge inspections. Our inspection divers are NHI/FHWA certified and all divers hold ADCI and relevant safety certifications. We possess the necessary equipment and staff to perform all types of underwater bridge inspections in an accurate and efficient manner, with strict adherence to federal, state, and local standards.
DAM INSPECTION
Coastal Engineering provides inspections, assessments, and repairs of all dam types, above and below water. Our inspection staff is trained in ASDSO and other relevant principles, concepts and procedures in performing dam inspections. We specialize in routine, standard, and special inspections and evaluating compliance with design standards. Our crews are experienced, knowledgeable, and hold all relevant safety and training certifications.
WATER TANKS
Coastal Engineering provides safe and economical diving inspection, repair, and sediment removal services. We have experience with water districts, municipalities, and a variety of potable water suppliers. We have contracts with some of the largest water facility operators in the country to perform routine inspections and underwater maintenance.
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Coastal Engineering provides an array of underwater and top side construction services. Our capabilities include (but are not limited to) underwater concrete placement, certified topside and underwater welding, trash rack installation and repair, sluice gate installation and repair, piling and bulkhead repair, cofferdam installation, dredging and debris removal, stop log installation and removal, etc...
CONFINED SPACE
At Coastal Engineering we specialize in confined space structural inspections and repairs. Our staff is trained in confined space entry and fall arrest equipment, and we possess and maintain all necessary equipment in-house. We also offer penetration dives, pipe crawler, and ROV services. All confined space operations meet OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 requirements.
HAZMAT DIVING
Coastal Engineering's commercial diving team is certified for dive operation in adverse underwater conditions, including environments with high-risk capacity for contaminated water and hazardous materials.
SUBMARINE UTILITY LOCATING
Coastal Engineering provides high quality and economical underwater utility locating. Through experience, training, and improved technology, Coastal Engineering has continued to improve efficiency while minimizing the impact to the environment. Power, telecom, gas, sewer, and water lines can all be physically or tone located.
ROV
INSPECTION
Coastal Engineering provides ROV inspection services for areas too small or unsuitable for diver access. These remotely operated vehicles and the imaging data they create help to provide a comprehensive evaluation of substructure units.
